The Story of Jr.(pronounced "Junior") Hart. | On Jr.'s second birthday his Nanny and Pa got him an electric 4 wheel electric motorcycle. He couldn't hold the gas pedal down very long so he didn't go very far or very fast. Winter came and we put it away until spring. Spring came and we got the electric 4 wheeler out and lo and behold Jr. was awesome on it!!! He did things on that 4 wheeler that blew his Pa's mind. "Maybe he really is going to be a driver" Pa said to himself. Not too long after that, Jr.'s Pa was watching a Nascar race on television when Jr. walked into the room. "See that red number 8?" Pa asked. Jr. said "nope". "He's out in front of everybody" Pa replied. "See him right there?" and Pa pointed to the car being driven by Dale Jr. Jr. watched the TV for quite a bit longer than a 3 year old should then he said "Pa!" . "What is it buddy?" Pa replied. "Thats me! Pa. Thats me!" Jr. said as he pointed at the car driven by Dale Jr. From that day on Jr. had made up his mind. He was going to be a driver. Before long it was getting close to birthday time again. One morning Pa asked Jr."What cha' want for your birthday buddy? Jr. replied " to be Jr. Hart." What do you mean?" asked Pa. "TO BE JR. HART!"repeated Jr. emphatically. About that time Sis piped up with the translation, "He means he wants to be Dale Earnhardt Jr., Pa". and that's where Jr. Hart (Pronouned "Junior Hart") racing came from. One day when Pa went in to wake Jr. up for kindergarten Pa hugged him and said "You know you're my number one don't you?" Jr. immediately replied, "No Pa. I number eight." | " Somewhere around the 4th of July after Jr. had turned 4, Pa found a go kart in the paper and Sis, Jr. and Pa went and bought it with spare change they had saved. It was one of those old 2 seaters with no safety gear whatsoever. Jr.'s feet were too short to reach the pedals so he would sit in his Pa's lap and up and down the street they would go beating Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and the like and shaking up cokes and spewing them in the front yard Which was victory lane. When Jr. turned 6 it was time to start looking for a go kart track to start getting some experience. That's when Pa found the Music City Quarter Midget Association. So the family went to the Quarter Midget Races that day and Pa met Mitchell Harper, world renown Baby Grand engine builder. After some getting to know one another Pa found that Mitchell had a small quarter midget car for sale and not long after that Pa bought it. Jr. Hart Racing was on it's way.
